The Andaman and Lakshadweep Harbour Works (ALHW), established in 1965, is responsible for developing port infrastructure in the Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep Islands. ALHW implemented significant projects, including breakwaters, wharves, jetties, dry docks, and fish landing centers across various Islands. The organization has played a crucial role in the region’s development, enhancing connectivity and supporting economic activities. Notable projects include Construction of Breakwaters for providing sheltered Harbours, Dry Docks and slipways for ship repairs, development of the Haddo Wharf with container handling facilities, the exclusive bulk cargo wharf at Chatham Island, the inter-island ferry jetties at Phoenix Bay, and Passenger terminal buildings for visiting tourists to the Islands. In addition, ALHW has carried out strategic projects for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in the Islands.
